The closest airports are Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport (PHX), two hours by car to the south of Sedona, and Flagstaff Pulliam Airport (FLG), about 45 minutes to the north of Sedona. Please be aware that Flagstaff Pulliam airport offers only limited flight options.
The Sedona-Phoenix-Shuttle operates several times daily between PhoenixSkyHarbor and Sedona. Please be aware that Sedona offers limited public transportation options. There are several car and motorbike rentals in the Sedona area, however, capacities are limited and reservations are strongly recommended. There are also several car rental agencies at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. Reservations are recommended.
From Phoenix. Driving time from Phoenix is about two hours (120 miles/193 km). From SkyHarbor, get on Interstate 17 north and follow it to exit 298. Proceed northeast on Highway 179 for 15 miles (24 km) to Sedona.
From Flagstaff. Driving time from Flagstaff is about 45 minutes or about 1 hour, depending on the route you take.
The drive along 89a south takes you through the breathtaking gorge of Oak CreekCanyon. This is a 28-mile drive that counts among the most scenic drives in North America and takes about 45 minutes. Please be aware that this drive involves navigating several switchbacks and that the road may be closed during inclement weather.
Alternately, you can take Interstate 17 south to exit 298 and proceed northeast on Highway 179 for 15 miles to Sedona. This route takes about one hour.
