One of the best ways to explore the awe-inspiring beauty of the Sedona area is to get your feet - or your wheels - on the ground and embark on a hike experiencing one of the countless trails in the area. Sedona is world-renowned for its hiking and mountain biking trails that encompass all levels of difficulty, adventurous spirit and expertise.
Sedona´s hiking trails are well marked by so-called cairns, rocks enclosed in a round wire mesh. Signs at the trail heads contain information about your location, the length and the difficulty of the trail. Remember to wear a hat to protect you against the scorching Arizona sun, bring plenty of water and some trail mix – and then have your pick of exploring Sedona´s typical layered flat red rocks or wandering along cool, clear creek waters, climbing up a red rock formation to a breathtaking overview or going on a leisurely stroll along the cliffs of a majestic canyon. Take your time, look around and take in the sights, sounds and smells of this serenely beautiful landscape!
Mountain biking in Sedona is truly impressive! With hundreds of miles of spectacular single track and beautiful scenery, mountain bikers can hardly go wrong when visiting the Sedona area. Test and hone your skills along the rims of spectacular, steep sandstone cliffs, on shady canyon trails and across crystal clear creeks, on hard-packed ground or over rocky terrain. Strain those muscles on rugged, hilly or flat concourses underneath dramatic red rock formations! The scenic redrock basins around Sedona offer some of the most incredible terrain and vistas that can be experienced on a mountain bike.
